Artist Statement:
Don't you just love how the cerulean sky compliments the vibrant oranges and yellows of this plane? It is one of my favorite color combinations to capture onto canvas.
As an artist, I delight in receiving messages from photographers sharing their vehicle images with me. These artists use lenses as brushes to capture images that I am unable to take because of location or event admittance. This painting is based on such a photo by a wonderful photographer and avid collector of mine in Texas. He took several photos of sea planes while on vacation. He sent them to me asking if I could use any for my work. I was delighted to bring this lovely painting to life on canvas. I later learned that this plane is a lifeline for many pilots and communities in remote areas. It is an aerial workhorse that is loved worldwide. I received delightful messages from all over the world from those that own a DeHavilland, pilot one, or have been a passenger. The love for these planes is evident, and she was a joy to bring to life on canvas. -Shan Fannin
